The Lawson Band Program

Post concerning recent questions:
The only other cost besides tuition and materials would be the instrument the student chooses to play, if they don't already have one. Music and Arts has a great rental program. The first three months are something like $20 (and that's for THREE months!!). After that, it's about $25 a month once you add in tax. If you get insurance on repairs it's a couple more dollars. There are a few instruments that cost a little more, like saxophone, but they can tell you at the store. If people don't want to rent, they can buy an instrument. Sometimes you can find a good deal on ebay or in the paper.
As for age levels, we target about age 9 and up. Children younger than 9 often do not have long enough fingers to play woodwind instruments, and woodwinds generally don't come in smaller sizes, like violins do.

So all in all, it's a great deal as far as the price. And each of our instructors has a master's degree in music plus many years of experience. We just found out that the band director at Converse College, Greg Lindahl, will be conducting our beginner band.
