Are you interested in a reading group for the summer?

I have a son who struggles to read. We have tried phonics for years now with no success. So, as I pondered on reading strategies, I came across a website that helps with reading by rewarding reading skills. I began believing that this just might be a way to motivate my child to read. So, here is the general idea of the program.

During the summer, the families who sign up for the reading program will agree to meet monthly at a local park. (Destination will be determined once we know the location of most families) During the first half hour, the kids will have the opportunity to tell a parent or parent about their book. I highly encourage children to speak up but I know this can be terrifying to some. So, as long as they can answer questions about the book, they will be just fine. For each book read, the child will earn points that can be turned into the book store for prizes.

To give great prizes, we will need to charge each family a minimal fee. No more than $3.00 to $5.00 per child. You will get your money's worth back believe me. Plus, it is our hope that your child will stay motivated to keep reading. The best part of the day comes when the kids are finished and they get to play or stretch just their legs. They maybe even be given the chance to go swimming at one of our friends house.

If you might be interested in such a program for the summer and long to have the fellowship with other home school families, please email us at legacy home school.
