Workshops for older students are residental camps. Workshops for younger students are day camps.

CSI Converse:
A workshop for exploring the world of forensic science by securing a crime scene, gathering clues and processing evidence in science labs - for rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders

Converse Theater Workshop:
Development of your imagination, body and voice through scene work, playwriting, movement, singing and improvisation for rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders.

Visual Arts Workshop:
Intensive study of drawing techniques and printmaking with professional artists, including an exhibition of your work for rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders

Young Writers Workshop:
Personal instruction and critique from professional writers in poetry, fiction, playwriting, creative nonfiction, and editing and publishing for rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders

Fine Arts Day Camp:
Give your child the opportunity to experience the arts. The Alia Lawson Pre-College program of Converse College presents the 2008 Fine Arts Day Camp for children who have completed 4-year-old kindergarten through fifth grade

“Art in the Park” will present its second annual event on May 10, 2008 in the downtown section of the City of Gaffney. The official rain date…….which we all hope we won’t have to use….is May 17th. We are looking forward to working with all of you and seeing the students artwork from all over Cherokee County. We have tried to compile the necessary information below that you will need to participate in this event.

*If you would like to bring your display equipment and artwork to the CAVA Art Gallery on Friday, May 9th, you are welcome to do so before 5:00pm! If not, please bring everything you will need on Saturday the 10th between 8:00am – 9:00am and a location will be assigned to you for placement.
*
*Each school will be responsible for the hanging and pick up of all artwork. And it is advisable for each school to have someone remain with the artwork to be able to answer questions from the community.
*
*After the event, all winners will be hung in the display window of the CAVA Art Gallery and remain there for the rest of the month of May. CAVA will award each age group winner and honorable mention with a certificate and a small prize. Groups will be divided into the grade groups from (K-5), (6-9) and (10-12).

*This is a free event for school age children K-12, no registration fee will be charged. This is an event to encourage students to take pride in their art and be able to display their artwork to the public, as well as to encourage others to participate in the arts.
